Diablo 4 is currently plagued by major server stability issues

  • The recent launch of Diablo II: Diablo 4 Gold has been hampered by server issues caused by server stability issues, which causes characters to disappear and bar players from playing. The long-awaited remake is an upgrade of Blizzard's legendary role-playing hack-and-slash title, which released back in 2000. Instead of replace the original game or altering game balance Diablo II: Diablo 4 is a pure technical and graphical remaster.

Like the original title, Diablo II: Diablo 4 takes players on an epic adventure in fantasy through four distinct actions, as well as an additional act that is part of the Lord of Destruction expansion. Combat is based on a hack-andslash style and players fight massive numbers of enemies, using either melee or ranged attacks. The original game featured five different classes playable, while Lord of Destruction added two additional classes, and seven of these classes will be brought back to life with Diablo II: Diablo 4. This instability can cause many disastrous problems that could result in players returning to play only to find their characters missing. Restarting Battle.net has been proven to be able to fix the issue in certain players, however an even more comprehensive fix is most likely required from Blizzard.

This kind of major instability issue that arise, especially in major releases like Diablo II: Diablo 4 could prompt a rapid action from Blizzard. The game's executive producer Rod Fergusson already established the possibility of post-launch support of Diablo 4. stating that cross-platform play may be added to the game. This popular feature, which was not available in the game at launch, would let players collaborate in Diablo II: Diablo 4 across PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch and PC versions of the title. If there is a possibility for support post-launch already in place, an emergency patch should be no problem.

The process of progressing in the hack-and-slash fantasy adventure, only to discover that their characters are missing after starting an entirely new game, is understandably frustrating. Because of the game's popularity and Blizzard's inclination to post-launch support, it's likely that the issues will be addressed at some point in the future.
